Volunteer

The Hindu Temple of Siouxland is a place of worship, community, and shared culture—and it thrives because of the kindness and support of people like you. As our temple activities and festivals continue to grow, we invite you to join us as a volunteer known as selfless seva, and be part of this beautiful journey.

Volunteering Seva at the temple is a wonderful way to give back, meet new people, and stay connected to our traditions. No special experience is required; anyone can volunteer, age limit 21 and up, just a willingness to help and a joyful spirit.

We are currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:

Pooja & Ritual Support
Helping the Priest with simple preparations during Poojas and Aartis

Kitchen & Prasad
Assisting with cooking, serving, and organizing Prasad during weekends and festivals and help with cleaning after the events.

Sit-in During Temple Operating Hours
Occasionally, our priest needs to attend services or events during operating hours. You can help keep the temple open by volunteering to be available on such occasions. Signing up for this means that you will be contacted if there is a need. Sometimes the request may be on a short notice.

Temple Inventory Checkups (long term signup requested)
At least twice a month, visit the temple and check the following items used in the temple and update the EC-Team on the Volunteer group.

  • Availability of plates, utensils, napkins, drinking water
  • Availability of garbage bags big and small
  • Availability of filters used in HVACs
  • Condition of filters currently in HVACs and if bad swap them out (typically once a month at the least)
  • Items needed for deities – for example Oil – and checking with priest.

You can volunteer as often or infrequently as your schedule allows. Every helping hand—big or small—makes a difference.
