Derived from the Sanskrit word Akshaya, meaning “never diminishing,” this is considered one of the most powerful and auspicious days of the year. It is a day of “eternal” beginnings—whatever is started or purchased on this day is believed to grow and bring lasting prosperity. Traditionally marked by the purchase of gold or the initiation of new ventures, it is a celebration of spiritual and material wealth that stays with you forever.
